Loved my ipsy May bag. Probably the best all-over bag I’ve received.
Here’s what I got (if I’m going to continue to do reviews here, I’ll try and take better photos. This is one I took to share on Twitter, so it’s not great).
Pacifica roll-on perfume in Island Vanilla: I don’t usually like smelling like cake, or dessert in general, but I actually quite like this. Not an over-powering vanilla, it’s nice. I ended up checking out the Pacifica site and OH. OH MY. They have a zillion scents I’d like to try AND they offer samples for about $2 each. $2 ALL CAPS. I loaded up my cart and then realized their shipping fee to Canada is a bit high and abandoned the order. FYI – Pacifica is one of those sites that will send you a 10% off code if you abandon your cart for a bit, so – yes. Wait it out, friends.
Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl luminizing body butter. I LIKED IT. I’m glad I didn’t get any of the self-tanning products because I don’t tan. I don’t tan because it is REALLY BAD FOR YOU and the only way people will STOP TANNING is if being pasty and pale becomes fashionable and desirable. So I remain pasty white. For the cause.
The body butter has a bit of a shimmer to it – not quite glitter, but a shimmer. I’m imagining you’re supposed to use it on your legs and other exposed body parts, but I don’t really expose many body parts so I ended up using it mostly as a hand lotion, because I do expose my hands. Which are now shimmery. I’ve almost used it up already and would consider buying it again. It smelled – beachy.
Zoya nail polish in … whatever the purple colour is. If I could have chosen the colour, I would have picked this. I don’t LOVE it, but I like it enough to wear it and it was nice to be able to try the brand.
Yaby concealer – I was lucky enough to receive the concealer in Buff, which works pretty well for me. The formulation is nice – goes on evenly with a brush and provides good coverage. I’d consider buying again, depending on the price. I’m currently quite happy with my drugstore Revlon Color Stay concealer, to be honest.
Juicy Beauty (I KNOW) Reflecting Gloss in Fig. At first I didn’t like this. Fig is not quite my colour, but! I’ve realized it’s nice enough over other lipsticks/stains/liners. And it tastes AMAZING. Fruity. JUICY. (I KNOW). I think Alicia Silverstone is hooked up with this company and I think they’re vegan and organic and shit (not researching, sorry, don’t feel like it), which – if that’s important to you, here you go. My guess is that Alicia was all “It has to taste really good because when I chew up my food and spit it into the baby’s mouth? If any of gloss gets on the food, he’s, like, super picky. And vegan and all.”
It’s fine. I’d rather taste (JUICY) fruit than chemicals and flowers and perfume, or … meat (?) I guess. Organic/vegan isn’t important to me, but I’d still definitely consider buying this gloss again, just in a different colour, it really is nice. JUICY.
In summary: I’d buy ALL of these products again. I might pick a different colour or scent, but the brands are all now brands I recognize and like. Approve, ipsy, approve. Let’s not talk yet about that glitter shit you put in the June bag, ok?
