We had breakfast today in our hotel and headed out on our tour of the Pink City. First stop, the Old City area:
Quite lovely. We did a bit of shopping there, then headed over to Jantar Mantar, an ancient observatory. From there we went to the Royal Gaitor cenotaphs. It was really nice there, we were the only people walking around and it’s quiet and peaceful up there.
Just outside of the gates of the Royal Gaitor, I got my hands henna’d. It only took about 5 or 10 minutes, and it feels kinda tickley and good!
We also stopped off to take a look at the lake fort, unfortunately the lake is dried up. It must look lovely when they have had a good monsoon season.
After that we stopped for lunch, where I made a comment about a guy in a store farting (he did!) when I thought we were behind glass and he couldn’t hear us. We weren’t, and he did. Sorry dude, you shouldn’t be farting in public if you don’t want people laughing at you.
Just outside of Jaipur is the Amber fort:
The fort was quite neat, but unfortunately there is no signage anywhere and it’s very easy to get lost in the labyrinth of rooms of the women’s quarters.
After quite a busy day of site seeing, we headed back to Indiana for dinner. I’m sure there are hundreds of other restaurants in Jaipur, but Lucky seemed most comfortable with taking us there, and the food was good, so ok!
Tomorrow we are off to Agra.
